CBASP Repository: Rationale and Methodology

To date, there is no localized functional repository of literature dedicated to the Cognitive Behavioral Analysis System of Psychotherapy or CBASP. In an effort to correct this, we searched applicable databases, including PsycArticles, Psychology & Behavioral Sciences, PsycINFO, PubMed, and Google Scholar to collect the extant literature relating to CBASP. We used the search term “CBASP” or “Cognitive Behavioral Analysis System of Psychotherapy” in each database, returning 789 articles from the date range 1984 until 2025. 

After merging duplicates, 512 articles met inclusion for the last round of screening. Two raters screened these articles for inclusion to increase reliability. 23 articles were excluded for irrelevance to the topic or because the article was a repeat. From the 489 remaining articles, 104 articles were categorized as "Supportive Literature" due to no direct mention of CBASP but informed the literature around CBASP. The articles are denoted as either "CBASP" or "Supportive Literature" within the repository for ease of reference. Therefore, 489 articles are included in the repository and 385 of those articles directly reference CBASP in title or abstract.

Articles that were not in English and could not be found in English were included to inspire translations of meaningful literature and for inclusivity for non-English speaking scholars. Please note: generative AI was used to translate non-English article abstracts. While we strive for accuracy, we do not guarantee that the translations are error-free or fully representative of the original text.
