Each year, thousands of students across the country take the American Mathematics Competitions (AMC), the first step in a nationally recognized pathway that can lead to the International Math Olympiad.

While only a handful of students progress to the highest levels of competition, preparing for the AMC benefits every participant.

Our AMC Prep Classes are designed to sharpen your reasoning skills, boost your confidence, and help you perform your very best on exam day.

Two Program Options

Eligible students interested in taking both courses must register for each one separately.*

AMC 8

For students in grades 5–8

Focuses on AMC 8 topics with select extensions into AMC 10.

Dates: November 21, December 5, 12 and 19, 2026, and January 9 and 23, 2027.
Fee: $350
Register by: July 1

The contest will be administered at SBU for any registered student whose school doesn't participate.

AMC 10/12

For students in grades 9–12

Focuses on AMC 10 and/or AMC 12 preparation.

Dates: September 26 and October 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31, 2026.
Fee: $350
Register by: July 1

*Students in grades 7 and 8 who have already taken the AMC 8 in a previous year may be eligible for this course. The contest will be administered at SBU.
