Help Us Thank Seawolves Who Go Above And Beyond With A Gratitude Gram!

SBU students working together

Have you caught a colleague who went above and beyond to assist a student or colleague? The Thank a Seawolf campaign allows faculty and staff to send and receive Gratitude Grams in recognition of the outstanding work of colleagues. Gratitude Grams offer a quick and easy way for our campus community to recognize one another for their contributions to Stony Brook.

Simply complete the online Gratitude Gram form with the recipient’s name and a description of the recognized behavior or activity, and the recipient (and, if you so choose, the recipient’s supervisor) will receive a personalized email note, thanking them for their contributions.

Help us recognize Seawolves who work tirelessly across the university by sending them a Gratitude Gram to help brighten their day.

Frequently Asked Questions

The "Thank a Seawolf" program is an employee recognition initiative led by the Office of the President. It was established to encourage the entire Stony Brook community to engage with and appreciate each other on a broad scale and does not replace any division-specific awards or employee recognition programs.

Any faculty member, staff member or student may recognize a member of our campus community. All Stony Brook faculty and staff members are eligible to receive Gratitude Grams.

We utilize our campus HR system to determine who is faculty or staff. This information is also typically reflected on their university ID card.

If you are unable to find the faculty or staff member in the To field of the Gratitude Gram and you believe they are faculty/staff, please first try to enter their @stonybrook.edu email address. If that does not produce results, ensure the member is listed in the university faculty/staff directory with a university-issued email address. For technical assistance, please submit a service ticket.

Our campus HR system is used to source the employee supervisor. If the supervisor information is incorrect, the correct supervisor should reach out to their VP Coordinator who will work with HR to correct the issue. Once corrected, the information will be correctly displayed within two days.

All SBM email addresses have a @stonybrook.edu equivalent. Select their @stonybrook.edu email address and it will be automatically forwarded to their @stonybrookmedicine.edu account. If the recipient does not receive their Gratitude Gram, please submit an IT service ticket.
