ABOUT Emma:Emma held the Vice President position of the student council for WISE 2019-2020 and was the President in 2018-2019. When attending SBU, she studied Biology and she is now pursuing her master’s degree at UAlbany in Biodiversity, Conservation, and Policy (2022). She also serves as an intern at the Albany Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC). HOW WISE HELPED Emma:Emma enjoyed the sense of community and fellowship that WISE created by women the most. “It was amazing to be in a small group at a large university,” she says. “The mentorship really guided me through the struggles of my first year and lead me on a path of success through advice and connections that allowed me to finish my degree and be successful.” TIP FOR CURRENT WISE STUDENTS:Whatever you want to study, make sure you are passionate about it. It is easy to check the boxes of how something should be the perfect fit, but if your heart isn't in it you will ever find full gratification. |
