Student Enrollment Assistants (SEA)

Who We Are: 

Student Enrollment Assistants (SEA) are current Stony Brook students that will help on-board and pre-register incoming first-year students to Stony Brook. Students will gain knowledge in the areas of enrollment functionality, data management, and customer service, and student leadership as they work to enroll first year students in classes before they arrive at Stony Brook University.

 

Responsibilities:

-Student Enrollment Assistant Major Project: Participate in Enrollment Workshops and Assist with the enrollment of first year students in their first semester schedule through the SOLAR system

-Communicate through email with students about important enrollment deadlines and placement examinations

-Answer emails from first year students to address their questions about Stony Brook and their enrollment process

-Verify that students have completed pre-enrollment tasks, such as placement exams and the Advising Planning Form.

-Monitor enrollment status for students through the use of google sheets and update information appropriately

-Call students to follow up about the progress of their placement exams and transfer credits to ensure timely enrollment

-Attend bi-weekly staff meetings to monitor enrollment progress and receive updates as a team

-Work on special assignments/projects given by Undergraduate College Advisors related to New Student programming

 

Requirements:

Students who apply should be aware of the following:

-Students must have availability to attend a group interview before selection sometime in mid-April

-Students must have availability starting May 24th to start work and training

-Students must have availability through the summer until August 22nd

*Position may be remote for 2021 and would require your own laptop/device

Hours Per Week: 20 hours

Pay Rate: $15 hourly rate

Employment Dates: May 24-August 22
