STONY BROOK UNIVERSITY CONTINUES TO REDUCE ENERGY CONSUMPTION
The Stony Brook University Department of Energy Management has furthered its commitment
to reducing energy usage on campus with an aggressive multi-tier project consisting
of upgrades to heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) equipment, the addition
of building sub-meters, and an exterior lighting retrofit.
Stony Brook University, in partnership with National Grid, has completed the installation
of new water-efficient aerators, showerheads and spray valves in various campus buildings.
The project's aim is to help manage the University's current water usage and water
heating costs through conservation efforts.
Stony Brook University's horticultural department has worked tirelessly throughout
the winter to once again beautify the campus this Spring. The program was recognized
by The Arbor Day Foundation as a Tree Campus USA for the 7th consecutive year, thanks
to the dedication of its experienced staff.
