    About the Program

    The Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen is one of Europe’s oldest universities. Tuebingen is located at the heart of Europe in a southern German region with strong European traditions. Tuebingen is close to Strasbourg, France which is the seat of the European Parliament and equally close to Frankfurt, seat the of the European Central bank. The University's excellence in research creates an optimal study environment for students. The Winter program offers students the opportunity to enroll in  two modules in "International & European Studies" and "Language & Culture." Students will have a rich experience in one of Germany's traditional University towns. 

    Highlights of the program include:

    3-day excursion to Berlin 

    1-day excursion to Strasbourg

    Visit to multinational companies

    Many Social and cultural activities to explore Tuebingen and its surroundings

    Additional Information A Partner University program is a study abroad experience where students are nominated/accepted by Stony Brook University, and enroll at a partner institution. In most cases SBU faculty or staff are NOT traveling with participants.

  • Program Details

    Course of Study

    At Tuebingen students will enroll in two modules: "International & European Studies" (3 credits) and  "language & Culture) (1 credit).

    "International & European Studies" module will explore:

    > Peace and Power-sharing in the Europeans Union: Institutions, Politics, and History.

    > European Foundations of the Legal Order.

    > Doing Business in Europe.

    "Language & Culture" module will offer German languages courses on the proficiency levels A1-B2



    This is a 4 credits program. All Participants following the Stony Brook Curriculum (SBC) will fulfill GLO, EXP+, and SBS+

    Students will also have the opportunity to interact and make friends with their peers from around the globe.

    This is a partner university program. Applications must be submitted to Stony Brook University first. Information regarding the next steps in the process will be distributed to students who have received formal nominations by their International Programs Coordinator.

    Living Arrangements Accommodation in university residence hall or host family.

    Program Housing Statement: Stony Brook University is required to comply with the housing policies of the host country, partner institution and/or hotel/hostel. These policies may include requirements such as sex-based housing placement.

    Additional Information

    Grades earned in a Partner University program   WILL NOT  calculate towards the cumulative GPA for SBU students.

    Non-SBU students must contact their home university regarding their grade and credit transfer policy.

    Application Fee

    $60

    Tuition Rate $286 per credit for NY residents

    $1,023 per credit for non-residents
    Program Fee

    $1,500 (Includes housing, 3 days of orientation with full board, excursions to Berlin & Strasbourg, cultural & social activities, transportation ticket for use within Tuebingen, and a welcome and graduation reception.)  

    Administrative Fee

    $200 (non-refundable)

    International Health Insurance $55 per month approximately. Note: The host university may also require a domestic health plan, and will send details regarding costs to students directly.
    Other Fees $1,000-$2,500 (approximately; meals and any additional excursion fees not covered as part of the program)
    Travel Costs $1,300-$1,800 (approximately; Students are responsible for their travel arrangements including airfare, visa costs)
    Costs are estimates for planning purposes of the student and are subject to change at any point.
