    About the Program

    The Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen is one of Europe’s oldest universities. Tuebingen is located at the heart of Europe in a southern German region with strong European traditions. Tuebingen is close to Strasbourg, France which is the seat of the European Parliament and equally close to Frankfurt, seat the of the European Central bank. The University's excellence in research creates an optimal study environment for students. The Winter program offers students the opportunity to enroll in  two modules in "European Politics and Economy" and "Language & Culture." Students will have a rich experience in one of Germany's traditional University towns. 

    Highlights of the program include:

    3-day excursion to Berlin 

    1-day excursion to Strasbourg

    1-day excursion to Frankfurt

    Visit to multinational companies

    Many Social and cultural activities to explore Tuebingen and its surroundings

    Living Arrangements Accommodation in single or shared room is student residences, host family, student shared flat, or shared apartment.

    *Accommodation is arranged directly by partner university and is based on availability.
    Additional Information A Partner University program is a study abroad experience where students are nominated/accepted by Stony Brook University, and enroll at a partner institution. In most cases SBU faculty or staff are NOT traveling with participants.
    Program Housing Statement: Stony Brook University is required to comply with the housing policies of the host country, partner institution and/or hotel/hostel. These policies may include requirements such as sex-based housing placement.

    Applicants are accepted on a rolling basis, and are encouraged to apply as early as possible.
    Candidates may be interviewed to determine their qualifications for participating and representing Stony Brook University abroad
  • Academic Information

    Course Information

    At Tuebingen students will enroll in two modules: "European Politics and Economy"  and  "German language & Culture.

    "European Politics and Economy" module will explore:

    > Peace and Power-sharing in the Europeans Union: Institutions, Politics, and History.

    > Regional Economic Integration: The Case of the EU

    "Language & Culture" module will offer German languages courses on the proficiency levels A1-B2

    This is a 3 credits program. 


    Academic Policies

    • This is a partner university program. Applications must be submitted to Stony Brook University first. Information regarding the next steps in the process will be distributed to students who have received formal nominations by their International Programs Coordinator.
    • Grades earned in a Partner University program WILL NOT calculate towards the cumulative GPA for SBU students.
    • Non-SBU students must contact their home university regarding their grade and credit transfer policy.
    • All participants following the Stony Brook Curriculum (SBC) will receive GLO and EXP+ in addition to requirements fulfilled by their coursework.

  • Apply
