    Screen Tools: A four-week practical course for emerging filmmakers

    Structured around a practical production process based on professional television industry practice, Screen Tools is a hands-on course designed to set students up with the essential skills necessary to launch a career in film, television and digital media industries. 

    This course is designed for students with two years’ undergraduate experience. A background in film or media production, drama, or creative writing is preferred, but not essential. Students with only one year of undergraduate experience and a strong creative portfolio are also eligible for entry.

    Additional Information A Partner University program is a study abroad experience where students are nominated/accepted by Stony Brook University, and enroll at a partner institution. In most cases SBU faculty or staff are NOT traveling with participants.

    Additional Information

    Credits earned on this program do not calculate toward a student's GPA at Stony Brook University. Non-SBU students are advised to check their home university's policy regarding grade and credit transfer.

    Tuition Rate $286 per credit for NY residents

    $1,023 per credit for non-residents
    Program Fee $4,500 includes Auckland Academic course fee, accommodation, and field trips to Hobbiton Movie Set and Weta Workshop.

    Administrative Fee

    $200 (non-refundable)

    International Health Insurance Included in the Program Fee
    Other Fees $1,110 approximately: meals, personal expenses

    $100 University of Auckland Application Fee
    Travel Costs $2,200 approximately for airfare and visa. Students may be required to travel together to the study abroad site. The study abroad advisor will provide details to participants once available.
    Costs are estimates for planning purposes of the student and are subject to change at any point.
