Final Exams at SASC

Most of the last two weeks of each Fall and Spring semester are designated as the Final Exam period. During these days, courses do not meet so students can focus on preparing for and taking their final exams.

SASC provides intensive support for students taking their final exams with accommodations. To better meet the needs of our studnets, the Testing Center's hours are adjusted to paralell the university final exam schedule.

Monday through Thursday: 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM

Friday: 8:00 AM to 5:45 PM

SASC Students should schedule exams at the time closest to that of their course. The Registrar's Office provides the Final Exam Calendar before the beginning of each semester. Students should review this schedule early in the semester and schedule their exams with SASC in advance of the finals period. SASC schedules final exams using the following time blocks:

Standard Time Extended Time (1.5x) Double Time (2.0x)
8:00 AM to 10:30 AM 8:00 AM to 11:45 AM 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM
11:15 Am to 1:45 PM 11:15 AM to 3:00 PM 11:15 AM to 4:15 PM
2:15 PM to 4:45 PM 2:15 PM to 6:00 PM 2:15 PM to 7:15 PM
5:00 PM to 7:30 PM 5:00 PM to 8:45 PM 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM

Exams scheduled in the classroom for 8:30 PM should be scheduled at SASC for 5:00 PM or 4:00 PM as necessary to provide student accommodations during building hours.

Some classes, particularly those in the Medical or Professional programs may have a different final exam schedule. Students in these courses should confirm their final exam schedule with their instructors as early as possible to ensure a space at SASC.

If accommodations cause a student's exams to overlap, they should speak with the faculty for each class and determine which course can be scheduled for an alternate exam time. The faculty should email permission to SASC for the time change. Students can contact SASC at SASC@stonybrook.edu for support in moving exams times due to time conflicts.
