  • Fraternity & Sorority Life Practicum Opportunity

      Requirements:

    • Must be a Graduate Student in the Higher Education Administration Program 
    • Must be enrolled in HEA 586: Higher Education Administration Practicum or enrolled in HEA 587: Advance Practicum in Higher Education Administration
    • Must commit to 10 hours weekly and total 120 hours by the end of the semester  

    Position tasks include, but are not limited to:

    • Assist in the daily office operations of the Department of Student Engagement and Activities with a focus on the fraternity and sorority community
    • Assist with the fraternity and sorority accreditation program, including metric tracking and assessment
    • Advise a caseload of fraternity and/or sorority chapters
    • Assist in planning and execution of fraternity and sorority recruitment and intake
    • Assist in the planning and implementation of large scale, traditional departmental events, including Leadership Retreats, National Hazing Prevention Week, IFSC Week, and Annual Awards Ceremony
    • Assist office with developing new initiatives and special projects
    • Other duties as assigned

    Remuneration

    This is an unpaid internship for HEA graduate students only. Successful candidates will be expected to work approximately 10 hours per week for the course of a semester. Tuition remission, health insurance, and retirement benefits are not included as part of this position.

  • Leadership & Outreach Graduate Practicum Opportunity

    Requirements:

    • Must be a Graduate Student in the Higher Education Administration Program 
    • Must be enrolled in HEA 586: Higher Education Administration Practicum or enrolled in HEA 587: Advanced Practicum in Higher Education Administration
    • Must commit to 10 hours weekly and total 150 hours by the end of the semester  

    Position tasks include, but are not limited to:

    • Assist in the daily office operations of the Department of Student Engagement and Activities with a focus on leadership and outreach opportunities for registered, recognized student organizations. 
    • Coordinate and execute monthly leadership workshops (online and in person) for executive board members. Partner with areas such as Multicultural Affairs, F&S, Commuter Student Services & Off Campus Living, Career Center, Marketing & Communications, USG/GSO, CPO in the planning and implementation
    • Oversee the Engage.Lead.Discover program, including the supervision of a team of undergraduate student Involvement Coaches
    • Assist with the implementation of a “recognition” program for registered student organizations
    • Assist with the planning and implementation of Leadership Conference/s for registered student organizations & advisors
    • Responsible for a monthly Advisor newsletter
    • Responsible for a monthly student organization newsletter
    • Lead focus groups with student leaders
    • Responsible for Faculty Advisor outreach and education in conjunction with the Associate Director
    • Work with USG VP of Clubs and Organizations to strengthen relationship between the areas to better support registered student organizations
    • Assist office with developing new initiatives and special projects as related to leadership and outreach
    • Other duties as assigned

  • Practicum Student for Programs & Traditions Opportunity

    Requirements

    • Must be a Graduate Student in the Higher Education Administration Program 
    • Must be enrolled in HEA 586: Higher Education Administration Practicum or enrolled in HEA 587: Advance Practicum in Higher Education Administration
    • Must commit to 10 hours weekly and total 120 hours by the end of the semester  

    Position tasks include, but are not limited to:

    • Assist with departmental programs and events including, Opening/Chillfest, Homecoming, CCA Events etc
    • Assist the Graduate Coordinator with planning & implementation and assessment of approximately 15 large-scale campus wide Program & Traditions programs for the Fall Semester
      • Including but limited to ordering of supplies, execution of contracts, and overall management and maintenance of funds in conjunction with the Graduate Staff Coordinator and Professional Staff supervisor
    • Assist with daily office operations and administrative tasks related to Student Engagement & Activities
    • Sit on Council for Campus Activities Fill the Gaps Committee and chair one event
    • Oversee students completing an internship with Programs & Traditions in conjunction with the Program Coordinator of Student Engagement & Activities
    • Assist with Assessment and Evaluation of Weekend Life Programs in conjunction with the student staff liaison
    • Provide on-site management at Student Engagement  events as needed
    • Oversee volunteer recruitment in conjunction with event coordinator
    • Assist with the creation and implementation of staff training and recruitment and creation and updating of comprehensive guidelines/manual related to event planning and Programs & Traditions operations
