Chapter AwardsExcellence in Academic Achievement Scholarship is the cornerstone of both Stony Brook University and the fraternal community. This award recognizes a chapter for their outstanding commitment to scholarship and is awarded to the chapter with the highest overall GPA. 2021 Winner: Phi Delta Epsilon International Medical Fraternity Excellence in Campus Involvement This award
is given to an organization who has members heavily involved in campus life. 2021 Winner: Alpha Omega Epsilon Persistence Award
This award
is given to a chapter who has made outstanding strides in overcoming barriers related
to the COVID-19 pandemic and shares how they persisted with overall chapter operations.

This award
is given to a chapter to recognize outstanding efforts in its service related and/or
philanthropic endeavors.
2021 Winner: Alpha Omega Epsilon Excellence in Virtual Engagement
This award
is given to a chapter that has created a strong connectedness with their members and
the community through effective communication via social media and offering of virtual
engagement opportunities.
2021 Winner: Sigma Psi Zeta Sorority, Inc. This award
recognizes a chapter that has excelled in balancing the many facets that go into a
fraternal organization.
2021 Winner: Kappa Sigma This award is given to the chapter that has made significant strides in all areas
of their development.
2021 Winner: Kappa Sigma This award recognizes a chapter of excellence in all of the following areas: Academic Excellence, Member Education, Leadership Development, Chapter Management, and Inter-Fraternal Relations. Program AwardsThese awards honor the chapters who have excelled in creating successful, unique programming in the various aspects of Fraternity and Sorority Life. Innovative Program in Professional Development Award This award recognizes a creative program held by a fraternity or sorority that promotes professional development for all of its members. 2021 Winner: Alpha Omega Epsilon & Theta Tau's "Internship Hunting: Do's and Don'ts Workshop" Innovative Program for Helping Others This award recognizes one community service or philanthropic program held by a fraternity or sorority that promotes civic engagement and encourages selfless acts of service. 2021 Winner: Sigma Psi Zeta Sorority, Inc.'s "Continual Service and Philanthropic Work" Innovative Program for Diversity & Multicultural Awareness This award recognizes a creative program held by a fraternity or sorority that promotes diversity and multicultural awareness. 2021 Winner: alpha Kappa Delta Phi International Sorority, Inc.'s "The 'Real' Virus: Anti-Asian Hate Awareness Panel" Innovative Program for Health & Wellness This award recognizes a creative program held by a fraternity or sorority that promotes overall positive wellness for its members. 2021 Winner: Alpha Omega Epsilon's "Scholarship Presentation on Mindfulness" Program of the Year This award celebrates a program hosted by a recognized organization that was the most impactful. 2021 Winner: Inter-Fraternity and Sorority Council's "Wolfiethon" |
Individual AwardsOutstanding Scholarship Award This award is presented to a member who excels academically and serves as a role model for their organization through their academic involvement while maintaining at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA. 2021 Winner: Sabrina Vargas - Epsilon Sigma Phi Sorority, Inc. Outstanding Leadership Development Award This award is presented to members of our fraternity and sorority community that are committed to leadership development and the enhancement of themselves and their organization. 2021 Winner: Tania Thomas - Sigma Iota Sigma, Inc.
Tasheka S. Sutton Spirit Award This award is presented to an individual who promotes fraternity and sorority life and inspires others to live their lives by the values of the fraternity and sorority community. 2021 Winner: Carli Surkis - Sigma Delta Tau
Hyperion Awards The Hyperion Award is presented annually to members who have made a significant impact upon the fraternity and sorority community during their collegiate career through exhibiting excellence within their chapters and contributing to the Stony Brook community. We view this award as an excellent opportunity to recognize the students for their dedication and efforts toward incorporating positive change in their organization, the fraternity and sorority life community, and/or the campus at large. 2021 Winners: Nadia Aniff - Sigma Iota Sigma, Inc. Fraternal Values Award As members of values-based organizations, this award seeks to recognize a sorority or fraternity member who exhibits and upholds their organizational values, purpose, ritual, and mission by way of their everyday actions. 2021 Winner: Vivian Mantzopolos- Sigma Delta Tau Advisor of the Year This a ward is given to a faculty/staff or national advisor who goes above and beyond in their role 2021 Winner: Nichelle Heredia - Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc. Friend of Fraternity and Sorority Life This award is given to individuals or offices at the University who go above and beyond to support our fraternities and sororities. 2021 Winners: Deb Klein - Academic Advisor, College of Engineering and Applied Sciences Mary Randazzo - Assistant Director, Student Conduct and Community Standards Emerging Leader Award This award recognizes students who have shown outstanding potential in the areas of leadership and inter-fraternalism. 2021 Winners: Kaya McDonald - Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. Fraternity & Sorority Leader of the Year This award is given to a student leader who has made significant contributions to Stony Brook University Fraternity & Sorority community during this year and their overall time at Stony Brook. The fraternity and sorority leader of the year demonstrates teamwork, and the ability to inspire and encourage their peers.
