Apogee is Stony Brook University's cable television provider.
In Fall 2016, Stony Brook University switched to Apogee TV as their cable television provider. The result of this was an increase in channels, at no additional cost for students. This is also the first step towards a Stony Brook Streaming Service for students to access all channels on mobile devices. Student can download our SBU TV Guide for Apogee graphic and save to their devices, or visit the DoIT Cable TV Service Page for channel listings.
Apogee Stream2 App
The app is available in your App Store. Simply use your Stony Brook NetID to access the service.
HBO Go and Max Go
All residential students have access to HBO Go and Max Go. Residential students are able to create their own personal accounts to enjoy all HBO shows, including HBO original programming, hit movies, sports, documentaries, comedy specials, and more.
To get started with HBO GO, students need to:
- Visit HBOGO.com or download the HBO GO app
- Click " Sign In"
- Scroll down to select Stony Brook University as the TV Provider
- Follow the on-screen prompts to continue authentication by logging in with your NetID
- Create an HBO GO user ID
- Start watching!
Residential students can access HBO GO using a computer (Windows or Mac) and select tablets, mobile devices, streaming players, TV systems, and game consoles. The service is available on computers and mobile devices anytime, anywhere - on or off campus. Game consoles and connected TV devices can only be used on your school's campus network.
Here is a current list of devices that you can use to access HBO GO, according to HBO:
- Samsung Smart TV
- Android smartphones and tablets
- Laptop computers
- Kindle Fire
- XBOX 360
- PlayStation 3
- Google Chromecast (not supported on the Stony Brook network at this time)
- Apple TV
To connect your gaming and certain other devices to the internet, you may need to use the new WolfieNet-IoT network.
For security reasons, the WolfieNet-Open network is being decommissioned. WolfieNet-Secure has and will remain to be the preferred network to use to get online. All modern phones, laptops, tablets, and computers are compatible with this network. For other devices like wireless gaming consoles, there is the WolfieNet- IoT network. This new network will allow devices to get online if they are incompatible with the preferred WolfieNet-Secure network.
Simply visit the https://reg.noc.stonybrook.edu/guest link to register your device for up to 1 year on the WolfieNet- IoT network.
