Welcome from the Assistant Vice President, Division for Campus Residences!
On behalf of the Division of Campus Residences, allow me to welcome you to Stony Brook for the 2018-2019 Academic Year. We are very excited to have you join the residential community, to both new and returning students.
Living on campus in a residence hall or an apartment provides many academic and personal benefits. Our residence halls and apartments offer the opportunity to create new friendships, become involved in a strong community, and learn from fellow students..
As a student living on campus at Stony Brook you have access to one of the finest residential programs in the country. We are committed to fostering an experience of “Education Beyond the Classroom.” Our partnership with the Undergraduate College’s and other academic areas of the campus, helps integrate learning into the residential setting. Our Residence Hall Association, National Residence Hall Honorary and Hall Councils provide a myriad of opportunities for students to get involved. Our Residence Hall Directors, Area Coordinators and Resident Assistants are here to help you and to make sure your residential experience is rich and vibrant.
We have been hard at work getting the residence halls and apartments ready for your arrival. Roth Quad has been undergoing a summer-long renovation as have several locations in our West, Schomburg and Chapin Apartments. In addition, we are anticipating the opening of our newest residential facility, West J, in September, with additional construction already in the planning stages.
We wish you a successful and enriching experience this year.
