New Student - Spring Admit 2024
Housing Application Information

Applications are processed in the order they are received.

Completion DEADLINE: January 18, 5 PM

This is a one semester commitment until the spring semester ends.

Is housing guaranteed for new spring admits who apply and meet deadlines?

Most years we are able to meet demand of all new spring admitted students who want housing. We start making spring assignments around December 26 and process applications in the order they are received. New spring admits are moving into vacancies created by current residents who move out before the spring housing semester begins on January 2.

At this time we do not anticipate any availability in family housing for new agreement holders.

Is there a housing deposit?

Students are required to pay a $200 housing deposit online through their Solar Account. Deposits can be made until January 15 at 5pm and the housing application must be completed by January 18 at 5pm.

If you paid your deposit in Solar today, your housing portal will be updated overnight and you will be able to proceed with the application the next day when the application is live. Once you are in Solar, proceed with the following:

New First Year and Transfer Students: go to Solar > For New Students > Pay Initial Deposits/Fee

New Graduate Students: go to Solar > Campus Housing > Graduate/Family Apt. Deposit to pay

For additional details related to deposits and cancellation fees see our Housing Agreement Cancellation, Termination, and Financial Liability Information website.

What will the application consist of?

  • Agreeing to the 2023-2024 Terms of Occupancy
  • Room Type Placement Preferences
  • Meal Plan Information and Meal Plan Selection
  • Move-In Date Selection

When will I apply?

The application will be accessible in the housing portal starting October 2.

Additional Information

What is Gender Inclusive Housing?

  • Gender Inclusive Housing (GIH) is a housing option in which two or more students share a bedroom, suite, and/or apartment regardless of the students' sex, gender identity or gender expression. In other words, this option allows for students of any gender identity to live together regardless of sex assigned at birth.
  • Choosing to live in Gender Inclusive Housing means that residents will have roommates and/or suitemates of any gender identities.
  • Residents of Gender Inclusive Housing are committed to creating and affirming a bias-free environment for everyone living in this community.
  • If you have an interest in Gender Inclusive Housing, you can sign up for this in the housing portal during published time frames . You will see a tab along the top of your housing portal labeled GIH.
  • Once that process is live, please review all information prior to submitting it. Once submitted you have signed up to live in this community for the academic year. You will not be able to room change or room swap into gender-based male or female housing.
  • New Spring 2024 students will be able to sign up and see the GIH tab in the housing portal from November 15 at 11am until December 22 at 5pm. After December 22 at 5pm, sign-up is closed for the 23-24 academic year.

What if I need to arrive later than planned on my scheduled day of check-in?

If a student is delayed and cannot make it to their 1 - 4 pm check-in on their scheduled arrival date, they should notify their community's Area Office. Check-ins are permitted from 8-9 pm at the Area Office with the RAs on duty.

If I no longer want campus housing, how do I cancel my housing application and will I receive any of my deposit back?

If you no longer need on-campus housing, students need to submit their cancellation request in the housing portal. You should see a link on the main page in regards to a cancellation request. Please see related information below in regards to financial liability with cancellation requests.

Cancellation requests must be made prior to moving into your assignment. Once you have moved in you are financially liable for the remainder of your agreement even if you move out. Please see our financial liability website for full details.

Cancellations are subject to the following based on date received:

  • Prior to January 15 and have not checked in, you will forfeit $100 of your deposit or be charged a $100 termination fee if you did not pay a deposit and committed to housing.
  • January 15 to January 20, you will forfeit $200 of your deposit or be charged a $200 termination fee if you did not pay a deposit and committed housing.
  • Later than January 20 and you have not checked in, you will be charged a $400 termination fee. If you have a deposit on your account, the deposit will go towards that termination fee.

Any resident who cancels their housing agreement loses eligibility for future housing. Choosing to live off campus requires the student to join a waiting list if they are interested in housing for a future semester or year. We cannot predict when or guarantee if students will get on campus housing by joining the waitlist. See full details on our financial liability website
