Chapin Apartments

Location

Near the Health Sciences Center and University Hospital. The apartments can be found in quadrant F5 on the Campus Map.

Floor Plan

Comprised of 12 separate buildings, with a variety of floor plans:

• 1-bedroom apartments for couples and families. One-bedroom apartments consist of a bedroom, bathroom, living and dining areas, and a kitchen equipped with a refrigerator and an electric range.
• 2-bedroom apartments for 4 single graduate or Health Science Center students of the same gender. Two bedroom units are similar to one bedroom apartments, but with two bedrooms and additional bathroom facilities.
• 3-bedroom apartments for 6 single graduate or Health Science Center students of the same gender. In the three bedroom units, two residents occupy each bedroom, and all six share common facilities. They also consist of two bathrooms, living and dining areas, and a kitchen equipped with an electric range and 2 full sized refrigerator.
• 4-bedroom apartments for single graduate or Health Science Center students of the same gender. In the four bedroom units, each resident occupies his/her own bedroom. They also consist of two bathrooms, living and dining areas, and a kitchen equipped with an electric range and 2 full sized refrigerator. 

Furnishings: Dining room table and chairs, full-sized refrigerator, electric range, air conditioner (available upon request), and an extra long twin sized bed (queen size bed in family housing units).

Meal Plan: A meal plan is not required for residents of the Chapin Apartments. A kitchen or kitchenette is provided for your convenience.

Mailroom: All packages can be picked up at Chapin Mailroom (444-6746).

Parking: Parking is located on Health Sciences Drive, and in several lots along Chapin Loop.

Computing Center: Located in the Chapin Commons Building (2-6843). 

Fitness Center: Located in the Chapin Commons Building (2-6842). 

Child Care: Chapin Apartments have an area designated for children's playground equipped with a slide, see-saws, swings, a climbing gym, a sand volleyball court and a basketball court. For the convenience of parents who work, do research or attend classes, the Stony Brook Child Care Services are located just down the road from the Chapin Apartments. Chapin children attend schools in the Three Village School District. School buses transport children back and forth between the Chapin bus stop and their respective schools.
