Campus Residences and Residential Programs have an extensive professional development program geared towards the development of all staff levels. This program includes various required and supplemental trainings & seminars; presentation opportunities; committee experiences; and potential conference attendance. Residential programs has developed a professional staff curriculum to guide staffs development during their tenure within the department.
Recently, professional staff members have attended and presented at numerous national conferences including: ACUHO-I, ACPA, NASPA, NACURH, STARREZ, Leadership Educators Institute, NASPA Mid-Level Administrator Conference, and APCA Assessment Institute. Professional staff frequently attend many regional and local conferences including: NASPA Region II, CSPA-NYS, LICSPA, NEACURH, and Regional Entry Level Institute (RELI). Many staff members also serve on committees or planning teams for various professional conferences and associations.
Staff members also have the opportunity to apply for tuition remission for classes within the State University of New York (SUNY) System. Many staff members have taken courses within the Higher Education Administration program to further their professional knowledge or work towards a certificate.
Many of our staff members serve as advisors for individual building councils. Many have taken on additional advising volunteering opportunities including: Alternative Spring Break Outreach (ASBO), Circle K, various Greek organizations, RHA, NRHH, The Happiness club, and many more.
