Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS)
Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) offers free and confidential services to enrolled students. Services include crisis intervention, brief counseling for individuals, couples, and groups; consultation to students, faculty, staff, friends, and parents; medication management; and assistance with referrals to community resources.
All residential students have access to HBO Go and Max Go. Residential students are able to create their own personal accounts to enjoy all HBO shows, including HBO original programming, hit movies, sports, documentaries, comedy specials, and more. Simply select Stony Brook University as the TV Provider when logging in and enjoy!

Room change process
The first two weeks at the start of the semester a room freeze is placed on all residential spaces. One this time period has ended, speak to your Quad/Area Office about changing rooms or being placed on a waitlist. Note: New students cannot move between Undergraduate Colleges and must stay in their assigned quad for their first year.
Students who wish to detriple must apply to the Detriple Waitlist on the housing portal . The resident that wants to move out of the tripled room can join this list to be considered for a detriple offer. Once you have received the detriple offer, you must accept within 48 hours so you can start the process to move into your new space. For more infortation regarding tripling click here.
If you wish to stay on campus during the summer and are a current Stony Brook Undergraduate student, a student from another institution enrolling in courses, doing research, or working at Stony Brook for the Summer Session. The application is available on the housing portal from mid-April and remains active through August.
