The Recreation Facilities fee funds the daily operation of the Campus Recreation Center and Recreation Field Space. The fee covers all costs associated with staffing salaries and fringe benefits; maintenance and custodial services; student employment; equipment and supplies. For the 2021-2022 academic year, the fee is $87.90 per semester for all undergraduate students. Graduate students, faculty, staff, alumni and spouses/partners may purchase memberships.

Budget Review

Stony Brook prides itself on the transparency of the budget process, which includes direct student involvement throughout the development of the Campus Recreation Facilities Budget. Throughout the year, the Director keeps the Advisory Board apprised of operational expenses associated with indoor and outdoor recreation and partners in the process to determine whether fees should be modified. Each spring semester, the Campus Recreation Advisory Board reviews fee proposals and makes recommendations for the following year. Following a consultation with the Advisory Board, the Director will make budget recommendations to the Vice President for Student Affairs.
