PRESEASON

In order to prepare for the fall semester, all members must attend Preseason Rehearsals in August. During this week there is a strong emphasis on learning music, marching fundamentals, and pregame and halftime shows. Room and board will be provided for you during the week of preseason.

Preseason 2023 Early Move-In Dates 

Early move-in to preseason rehearsals will happen on Thursday, August 17, 2023 for Drumline and Color Guard, and Sunday, August 20, 2023 for all Winds.

The opportunity to move in early is provided free-of-charge to all New and Returning Members of the Spirit of Stony Brook.  All preseason meals are also provided free-of-charge for members. 

Fall 2023 Football Performance Dates

***Note: All performance dates are subject to change. A full schedule of all performances will be distributed to members during Preseason.***

• Thursday, August 31, 2023: Delaware
• Saturday, September 23, 2023: Richmond
• Saturday, October 14, 2023: Fordham (HOMECOMING TBA)
• Saturday, October 21, 2023: New Hampshire
• Saturday, November 11, 2023: UAlbany

 

• What should I bring to outdoor rehearsals?
  A water jug full of water (which we will provide on the first day), your instrument, and sunscreen. If you play Mellophone, Trombone, Baritone/Euphonium, Sousaphone or Marching Percussion, instruments will be provided on the first day--indicate your instrument on the intent form. We will provide flags for new and returning color guard members.     
• What should I wear for outdoor rehearsals?
  Plan to wear comfortable athletic clothing for hot outdoor summer weather (t-shirts and shorts that allow you to move easily), including comfortable athletic shoes/sneakers. Do not wear flip-flops, sandals, or any type of open-toed, non-supported shoe.
