Visitor Policy
It is our pleasure to welcome visitors to our campus. We encourage all visitors to:
- Get Vaccinated: Health experts encourage everyone who is eligible to get vaccinated.
- Monitor Your Health: Visitors, including contractor and vendor employees, should monitor their health daily and do not come to campus if you don't feel well.
- Get Tested: If you have symptoms of COVID-19, get tested. While waiting for test results, stay away from others.
- Mask Mandate:
In keeping with the latest New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and State University of New York (SUNY) guidance, as of Wednesday, March 2, indoor masking is no longer required for faculty, staff, students and visitors at most indoor locations on our campus . Face coverings are also no longer required when riding in Stony Brook University vehicles, buses and shuttles.
Exceptions, where you will continue to be required to wear a mask, include the Stony Brook University Hospital and/or any patient-care setting.
Even though the mask mandate is no longer in effect, we encourage you to please continue to mask if you develop COVID-like symptoms, are concerned you could transmit a respiratory illness, or believe ou have an increased risk of severe illness if exposed to and infected by a respiratory illness.
In addition, we encourage you to always practice good hygiene to prevent the spread of viruses: - Wash your hands using soap and water for at least 20 seconds. When soap and water are not available, generously use your hand sanitizer.
- Do not share food/drinks and personal items with anyone.
- Clean all surface areas in your immediate space at least once per day.
- Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue (or into your elbow when a tissue is not available) when you cough and sneeze.
- Avoid touching your face, especially your eyes, nose, and mouth.
