US Open Information

aerial view of campusShinnecock Hills Golf Club will host the U.S. Open June 14-17, 2018, and while we are pleased to welcome the USGA to Southampton, the tournament will affect the Stony Brook Southampton campus significantly from June 7 through June 18.

There will be no public access to the campus between June 11-18. 

Tuckahoe Road South will be CLOSED June 7-10.

Tuckahoe Road North and South will be CLOSED June 11-18, and all incoming campus traffic will be directed to the old front entrance of the Southampton campus on Montauk Highway.

For the Campus Community:

Parking is prohibited on campus without prior authorization. Hang tags will be required to park on campus from June 11-18, and depending on your hang tag assignment, drivers will only be able to park in either the mansion, residence hall, or west field gate parking areas. Hang tags will be provided by department administrators.

The SBU Campus Shuttle schedule will operate as usual. View the summer session schedule.

Students should consult their academic program coordinators for details on class locations, dates, and times.

Faculty and staff members should consult their Program Administrator for additional information. 

Due to USGA use, the following items will also be modified for the month of June:

  • The gym across Tuckahoe Road will not be open until July. Date TBD.
  • The Southampton Campus Library will be CLOSED June 11-17, with the building remaining open for limited hours. Schedule TBD.
  • South Fork Kitchens will be CLOSED June 11-15.

The mail room will remain OPEN during the U.S. Open.

For Fans:

Fans wishing to attend the US Open must be ticketed and follow prescribed traffic and parking regulations. Visit the US Open website for more information.

Fans can take the train directly to the Open. Visit the Long Island Rail Road webite for information on the LIRR's temporary Shinnecock train station.
