My research is focused on clouds. The goal is to elucidate how clouds contribute to
the flux of energy through the atmosphere with a particular focus on showing the degree
to which low-level clouds contribute to low frequency variability of the energy budget
at the top of the atmosphere.
This research on clouds is part of an effort to compare and improve the results of
several climate models. These inter-model comparisons (The Cloud Feedback Model Intercomparison
CFMIP) are contributing to a better understanding of the entire physical Earth system.
My research interests also include large-scale dynamics, radiative-convective equilibrium,
climate change, and the development of general circulation models.
