SBU Research Connect FAQs
SBU Research Connect is a custom-branded instance of the SUNY Research Connect platform built specifically for Stony Brook University. Faculty profiles will appear in both the SUNY Research Connect Community Portal and the SBU Research Connect portal.
This site provides a centralized, public-facing view of Stony Brook research activity, including researcher profiles, publications, and sponsored research. The FAQs below focus specifically on how SBU Research Connect works at Stony Brook, including what data appears in profiles, how information is managed, and what researchers can expect at launch. The directory is built on the Elsevier Pure platform (integrated with Elsevier Fingerprint and other data sources) and provides a consolidated view of institutional research activity. It includes, but is not limited to:
- Academic appointments and titles
- Research interests, areas of expertise, and topical fingerprint
- Publication outputs and bibliometric metrics
- Sponsored awards
Coming soon to SBU Research Connect:
- Patents and other forms of intellectual property
- Equipment, labs, and research facilities
- Additional achievements, affiliations, and scholarly contributions
- Awards from previous institutions
Each researcher or unit profile includes a scholarly fingerprint, a weighted set of terms derived from published works and textual metadata that help surface topical relevance and highlight strengths. Please see our training documentation for instructions on how to edit your profile.
