My name is McKenzie Quinn and I am from Brewster, NY.
I graduated in 2020 from SUNY New Paltz with my B.A in Psychology with a Summa Cum Laude distinction. During my undergraduate education, I became highly interested in the development and treatment of substance use disorders. I completed an internship at Step One, an outpatient substance abuse clinic in which I co-facilitated daytime intensive group therapy sessions which exposed me to the multifaceted challenges recovery involves. During the seminar course Drugs, Brain and Behavior, I also became fascinated by the mechanisms that contribute to compulsive drug use. Upon completion of the master’s program, I hope to gain more experience working with individuals with substance use disorders and eventually go on to earn a doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology to further study the development of substance abuse and work to create effective interventions.
In my free time, I enjoy hiking around upstate NY, cooking with my family, watching documentaries and spoiling my border collie.
