Hello everyone! My name is Alyssa Falconi. I am from West Babylon NY and received my BS in Applied Psychology from Farmingdale State College.
During my undergraduate program, I engaged in faculty supervised research titled “BRIEF-P Scores are Associated with Pre-Reading Skills in Preschoolers,” the focus on measuring the correlation between parental based executive function assessments with flanker task executive function performance in preschoolers. Our research got published in the Journal of Pediatric Neuropsychology. I had the privilege of presenting my research at the SUNY Undergraduate Research Conference in 2019.
For my undergraduate internship, I conducted art and recreational therapy with children and adolescents in an inpatient psychiatric facility. Upon graduation, I became an assistant counselor where I currently provide group therapy, crisis intervention, and develop treatment plans in adult psychiatric services. Here I really learned my love and passion for mental health service and making a difference in someone's life. After completing my masters at Stony Brook I aim to pursue a PsyD. in clinical psychology and work with children and adolescents suffering from anxiety, mood disorders, and substance use disorders.
When I am not in school, I enjoy spending my free time with my family and my dog. I enjoy hiking, painting, and traveling.
