Hi everyone! My name is Briana and I’m from Westchester, NY.
I just graduated from Stony Brook where over the past year I have worked in clinical psychology professor Dr. Jessica Schleider’s Lab for Scalable Mental Health on campus. Our lab’s goals include developing brief, accessible interventions to help reduce youth mental health problems on a broad scale as well as testing non-traditional methods of treatment dissemination, such as via online or virtual reality. I also did research for the Women’s and Gender Studies Department on the internal economies of immigration detention centers in the greater New York City area. On campus I work as an Academic Technologist and have in the past participated in the Chill Peer Health Education program, was an intern for the Andrew Goodman Foundation, and served as a Teaching Assistant for the class Gender and Work.
My areas of interest are the intersections and interactions of LGBTQ+ health and wellbeing, women’s sexual and reproductive health, and depression and anxiety, as well as increasing accessibility to care for these issues.
My ultimate goal is to receive a PhD in clinical psychology which I hope will allow me to continue to increase marginalized peoples’ access to mental healthcare services through research, practice, and education.
I love music, reading, writing, big dogs, and trying to set a personal best record time solving my Rubik’s cube.
