myResearch - Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee

Project Background

The main objective of the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) module is to simplify animal protocol construction and improve turnaround times.  The solution also improves collaboration between investigators, IACUC coordinators, training coordinators, veterinary reviewers, PAM coordinators, and committee members through all IACUC activities from new protocols to de novo reviews.  Designed to help SB reduce non-compliance risk, the solution provides access to species, procedures, substance, training information, and inspections at any given point in time and also helps ease the creation of reports for OLAW, USDA, DOD, VA, and AAALAC.

The Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR) aims to achieve the following benefits by implementing the IACUC module:

  • Saves time with streamlined protocol construction and eliminates data inconsistency

  • Reduces administrative burden of research staff

  • Easily select protocol team members with current training

  • Streamline data entry and easily track which protocols are using specific procedures and substances

  • Complies with federal regulations and ensures only trained personnel conduct procedures

  • Manages deficiencies reported from facility inspection, program review, and PAM audits

  • Fulfills reporting requirements

  • Reduces complexity, eliminates redundant data entry, provides instant access to all protocol data, and assists with regulatory reporting requirements
