Senior Managing Counsel
Senior Adviser to the President
Susan Blum is proud to have spent almost her entire career in public service, much of it representing public institutions of higher education. She joined the SUNY Office of General Counsel (at Stony Brook) 25 years ago following her tenure at the Regional Office of the NYS Attorney General as the Assistant Attorney General in Charge, where she ran the office and represented nearly every New York State agency in trial or appellate level cases.
Prior to that time she served in the Maryland Attorney General’s Office representing the professional schools at University of Maryland, University of Maryland Hospital, Morgan State University and Maryland Public Broadcasting.
As the Senior Managing Counsel at Stony Brook, she oversees a regional office of attorneys, paralegals, law interns and undergraduate fellows providing legal advice to the university —including our large academic medical center — on a broad variety of legal and constitutional issues.
