2019 Holiday Season
To All Faculty and Staff,
As we approach the Holiday season, I want to take this opportunity to thank you all for your hard work during 2019.
As many of you are beginning to make plans to celebrate with your family and friends, I wanted to outline this year's holiday schedule.
For the Thanksgiving holiday many departments on the West Campus and in the Health Sciences Schools will choose to remain closed on Friday, November 29. Employees for whom this day is not a holiday and who wish to work, and not charge accruals, should contact Human Resource Services by e-mail at hrs_recruiting@stonybrook.edu in order to arrange an alternative work location.
The year-end holiday season is traditionally a time when employees spend some time away from the University. The official holiday closings are December 25 and January 1, and departments may operate with reduced staffing from Monday, December 23 through Friday, December 27. Employees must charge appropriate accruals for absences beyond the two official holidays.
Stony Brook University Hospital, Stony Brook Medicine Ambulatory Practices, as well as the Long Island State Veterans Home, will maintain normal operations during the holiday period. Human Resource Services will provide more detailed guidelines.
