A Message of Gratitude

Dear Staff Colleagues,

I write you, on behalf of our institutional leadership team, with a profound sense of gratitude as we confront the COVID-19 pandemic.

Stony Brook University employees are performing critical duties, both in-person and remotely, ensuring that our systems are fully operational, our facilities are safely and appropriately maintained, and, most of all, our patients’ needs are best met by our healthcare system. All of you have stepped up to make this possible, and you have done so while managing personal obligations that have dramatically increased. Through all this, you have executed your mission with commitment, strength, and poise.

You have gone above and beyond what is expected. You have come to the aid of our students, meeting their needs and showing them great compassion. You have volunteered your time, donated critically essential items, and imaginatively solved an array of unprecedented problems. In word and deed, you have shown how and why the Stony Brook family is so remarkable.

Your health and well-being remain our top priority. Our hotline (631-632-5000) is available to answer your COVID-19-related questions. Our central units will provide additional guidance and assistance on a variety of matters. I also encourage you to check regularly the Coronavirus Information page, which is often updated.

We know you face significant hardships. As we salute your courage and grit, we will do whatever we can to provide you the support you need. Please never hesitate to let us know how we may be of assistance.

We will never be able to thank you enough for what you are doing on behalf of our University and the communities we serve. You personify the very best of what Stony Brook represents.

With great admiration and respect,

Warmly . . . Michael
