Mini-Grants Announcement AY 2019-2020 (Award Year - FY 2020-2021)

To All Faculty and Staff,

I believe that encouraging diversity in all components of the Stony Brook experience contributes significantly to the quality of life on campus and inspires us to even greater accomplishments.  Therefore, I invite you to take part in this year’s Presidential Mini-Grants for Departmental Diversity Initiative by participating in the application process.

The Presidential Mini-Grants for Departmental Diversity Initiative is designed to foster new projects, to test out ideas and to determine what may be the seeds of growth for the University.  This long-standing program supports selected proposals that promote awareness, skills, and knowledge about issues related to race, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, ethnicity, socio-economic status, abilities, age and/or religion. Preference will be given to proposals that are tied to the goals of the Stony Brook Plan for Equity, Inclusion and Diversity.

Drawing on a total pool of $30,000, the award amount granted will be determined by the number of grants selected and approved for funding.  Grants generally range from $1000-$4000.

The application deadline is Friday, February 28, 2020.

Thank you for taking the time to give this important initiative serious consideration.

Michael A. Bernstein, Ph.D.
Professor of Business, Economics, and History
