A quick pre-holiday break update with some funding and career development opportunities. Also a postdoc social meet up TOMORROW NIGHT!

OF NOTE: Anyone with a current New York Academy of Sciences membership who would like to renew for $10 with our special discounted memberships deal, the deadline to renew without a lapse in membership is today (extended from yesterday). The final, final deadline to sign up for the 2016 calendar year is still Jan 22.

Come out for a social meet up with SBU and Brookhaven postdocs this Friday night. Hang out and meet postdocs outside your lab and campus. Food and drink available for purchase.

2Harvard Medical School Career Development Series for Postdocs

Harvard Medical School and the Biomedical Science Careers Program (BSCP) invites all postdocs (particularly African-American, Hispanic/Latino and American Indian/Alaska Native individuals) to attend the Career Development Series for Postdoctoral Fellows, Biomedical Science Careers Student Conference and New England Science Symposium (NESS). There is no registration fee for these programs, but separate pre-registration is required for each program.

Funding


1. Biomedical Technology Development Grants: Proposal Deadline: Jan 7

The Long Island Bioscience Hub (LIBH) technology development grants are a multi-tiered funding initiative aimed at collectively contributing to a pipeline of commercially promising biomedical technology in the region. Faculty members, physicians, medical fellows and post-doctoral associates from Stony Brook University, Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, and Brookhaven National Laboratory are eligible to apply, and funding opportunities range from $50K to $100K per year.

Additional information about these programs, and the mission of the Long Island Bioscience Hub, can be found on the Center for Biotechnology website.  Deadline for submission is 11:59PM, January 7th, 2016.  Applications should be submitted in the required format by the deadline. Incomplete submissions and submissions after the deadline will not be considered.

Sign up now through January 22, 2016 for an annual student membership with NYAS for only $10. 

Current NYAS members may also renew under this arrangement. To avoid a lapse in your membership term, renewing NYAS members need to enroll by DECEMBER 17th (TODAY)
