Grenalynn Casel Ilacas received her bachelor's degree in Chemistry on the Biochemistry track at California State University, San Bernardino and her master's degree in Chemistry with an emphasis in Biochemistry at California State University of Los Angeles. She is currently a fourth-year Ph.D. candidate in the chemistry department as a joint appointee working in Dr. Robert B. Grubbs and Dr. Benjamin S. Hsiao research groups. Her work is focused on determining the efficacy of biochar as a promising adsorptive material for practical use in a myriad of applications, specifically the modification and activation of biochar for use in water purification applications. During her free time, she enjoys many hobbies such as badminton, anime, spending time outdoors, cooking, and music.
