Department of English
Caitlin Duffy is a fifth-year Ph.D. candidate in the English Department. Her research focuses on early and 19th century American liberalism and present-day American neoliberalism. In particular, her dissertation explores the ways that these two modes of reasoning depict what it means to be American, as well as the ways that 19th-century American gothic texts and contemporary American horror films challenge, support, and subvert these depictions through the deployment of repeated figures and environments. She currently serves as the North American graduate student representative for the International Gothic Association. When she's not teaching or working on her dissertation, Caitlin co-hosts the podcast Of Gods and Monsters and enjoys reading, playing Dungeons & Dragons, and working out.
