Pop-Up Mentoring (PUM) is a one-time, no strings attached mentoring session that gives interested Stony Brook graduate students and postdocs a chance to have an informal chat with a mentor outside of their official support system. When we host this event in person, we offer lunch!
PUM focuses on questions that arise in academic contexts but are not field specific or research related (for example, work/life balance, issues for international scholars, job applications, issues for racial/ethnic/linguistic minorities, etc.).
Faculty members are invited to participate as mentors, and Master's students, PhD students, and Postdocs are invited to participate as mentees at our Pop-Up Mentoring sessions every semester.
Date: Friday, November 13, 2020
Time: 12:00-1:00 pm
Location: Zoom Meeting (registration required)
Register as a faculty mentor, a graduate student mentee or a postdoc mentee!
Registration opens: Monday, October 12, 2020
Registration deadline: Friday, October 30, 2020
Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate all requests to be a mentee in this session. We will assign you a mentor on a first come first served basis. Also, we will give preference to students and postdocs who have not been mentees in the past. Thank you for understanding.
