Stony Brook Online Learning Development (S-BOLD) Initiative
2015-16 Stony Brook Online Learning Development (S-BOLD) Initiative Awards Announcement
The President and Provost of Stony Brook University, in support of the continuing evolution of educational excellence for our students and the world, have established the Stony Brook Online Learning Development Initiative (S-BOLD), funded initially for four years at a level of $250,000 per year. During the second year of the funding cycle (AY 2015-16), the S-BOLD initiative has received 13 Letters of Intent from faculty and staff in various disciplines in the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), College of Engineering and Applied Sciences (CEAS), and the School of Journalism. The review process for the full proposals are now completed. For more info on the review process of the full proposal, please visit SBOLD Full Proposal Review Process. We are delighted to announce that the following 5 proposals are selected for funding:
- Fodor & McDonnell (Computer Science) – CSE 101: Intro to Computers/CSE 114: Computer Science I
- Hemmick, Dehmelt, Deshpande, & Drees, Cronin (Physics) – PHY 133/134: Classical Physics Laboratory I/II
- Liu (Economics) – ECO 303: Intermediate Microeconomic Theory
- Purwar (Mechanical Engineering) - MEC 101: Freshman Design Innovation
- Reuter & Green (Applied Mathematics) – AMS 261: Applied Calculus III
With the support of TLT (Teaching and Learning Technology), these 5 projects will start its implementation phase and be prepared to launch in AY 2017-18.
