Peter White, Percussion
Peter White began his musical training at the piano before studying drum set and percussion, graduating from the Tacoma School of the Arts with a focus on percussion performance. He earned his bachelor's degree at the University of Oregon and his master's degree at the University of Miami, studying with Pius Cheung, Aiyun Huang, Fabrice Marandola, Svetoslav Stoyanov, and Matthew Strauss along the way. In 2016, Peter was a semi-finalist at the Tromp International Percussion Competition, and in 2018, he and Joe DeMarco were semi-finalists at the International Percussion Competition Luxembourg as the duo membranophōn. In 2018 he also joined Alina Tambourini and Kathryn Vetter to form Sputter Box, a voice/clarinet/percussion trio specializing in theatrical chamber music and performance art. Peter is currently earning his Doctorate of Musical Arts degree at Stony Brook University under Eduardo Leandro.
