Alice Lee is a PhD student in the Music History and Theory program. Her research focus lies broadly in 18th and 19th century opera, with interdisciplinary focus on issues surrounding quantitative data analysis and political and financial cultures. She is currently interested in German opera and the relationship between the market economy, publishers, and opera houses at the time. She double-majored in music and economics at Columbia University (B.A. degree), where her thesis for the music major analyzed the accrual of Verdi’s financial wealth in conjunction with political, censorship, and copyright influences.
