Summer Chamber Music Camp

This week-long day camp focuses on developing important chamber music skills which help young performers build confidence and acquire critical musicianship skills that can make them better ensemble players and soloists. Each day of the camp, participants will receive coachings and take part in daily seminars/demonstrations led by professional musicians and music coaches. The camp will culminate with each group performing on the final concert that will be open to the public.

Open to students of all levels chamber music experience.

Important note: This is a day camp. There are no overnight accommodations available. 

DATES

August 10-15, 2020
9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., each day at the Stony Brook University Music Building
Final concert at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, at the Staller Center for the Arts 

ELIGIBILITY

  • Entering grades 8-12 in Fall 2020, or recently graduated seniors
  • Each participant selected must agree to be available for all sessions. Absences will not be allowed since chamber and jazz requires the consistent participation of all members. 

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS

Two contrasting solo pieces (We recommend a NYSSMA level of 4 or higher).

If you are auditioning for the 2020-21 Young Artist Program, you will not need a separate audition for the summer camp. Current YAP students do not have to audition for the summer camp.

TUITION

$325 per person

Includes daily rehearsals, masterclasses and final performance. There are no additional fees or expenses.
