Dr. Ofir Tomer

Ofir TomerChamber Music Coach

Dr. Ofir Tomer is an Israeli born artist/teacher currently residing in Rocky Point, NY. He is committed to the idea of grass roots outreach as a catalyst for growth in classical music. Dr. Tomer serves as artistic director of Harbor Front Music, an organization based in Port Jefferson NY that has developed a chamber music concert series for the public as well as a summer festival for local students, now going into it's 5th season. Dr. Tomer has also served on the faculty of Juniata College, Susquehanna University, and Penn State University.

Dr. Tomer earned his DMA in viola performance from Stony Brook University while serving as Teaching Assistant to Nick Cords. He earned his MM in viola performance from Penn State University while serving as Teaching Assistant to Timothy Deighton.

Looking forward, Dr. Tomer will be visiting Penn State University again as a faculty member in the spring of 2019. He also enjoys his role as violist of the Bridge Quartet, in residence at Susquehanna University. As a solosit Dr. Tomer will be featured with the West Shore Symphony Orchestra in February '19, and will give a recital along with renowned pianist Naomi Niskala in April. Dr. Tomer is deeply committed to developing his private studio here in NY, and is passionate about his ongoing work as faculty member of the Young Artist Program at Stony Brook University.
