U.S Foreign & Commerical Service is Recruiting. The 2019-2020 Recruitment Cycle will open to accept applications for the U.S & Foreign Commerical Service (USFCS) during the period of May 20 - June 3, 2019. An informatonal webinar will be held 23, 2019 about the assessment process. Participants in this webinar will hear from experienced Foreign Commercial Service Officers about the hiring process and their experiences representing the United States Government as Commercial Diplomats.

The U.S. Foreign & Commercial Service Assessment is acompetitive, oral and written examination used to recruit and select new, tenure track Foreign Service Officers.Candidates who pass an initial online application screening process receive an invitation for the one-day oral assessment.
Top candidates who pass the oral assessment exam are placed on a list called the Rank Order Register, which is valid for two years. The agency uses this Register to extend conditional offers of employment to candidates, as vacancies become available, pending the Top Security Clearance.

Companies in our incubator get three years of private studio space and access to a network of mentors and advisers. Makers can prototype their design ideas in our safe, secure, 5,000-sq-ft fabrication lab. We produce events and programs for a thriving community of creators and innovators. We are a program of LaGuardia Community College / CUNY.
NYDesigns seeks a FabLab Technician to organize and maintain the FabLab space and equipment, support maker related programming, and perform custom fabrication for entrepreneurs and small businesses in the hardware tech and creative industries. The workshop features a wide range of tools, including two CNC milling machines, a 100W large-format Trotec laser cutter, a Dimension 1200 FDM 3D printer, CNC lathes, and a standard suite of tools.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and coordinate all activities in the FabLab
- Ensure all lab work areas are clean and safe, making sure materials are stored appropriately by FabLab members
- Maintain all equipment, changing and repairing components as needed
- Create and update inventory of all tools and materials and submit replacement requests as needed
- Train incoming FabLab members on safety procedures and proper use of equipment and tools, and supervise members on an ongoing basis to ensure safety
- Assist in preparing bids for custom jobs for FabLab clients
- Periodically teach making and equipment use tutorials and workshops

NYDesigns seeks a Program Associate to develop and manage programming for our business incubation and acceleration activities, coordinate space use and events, and help plan and execute marketing initiatives. A key member of NYDesigns’ team, the Program Associate will provide the management team with critical information to support the development of strategic goals and initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate activities around the core incubation program and accelerator programs including Strategists in Residence and advisors/mentors work.
- Collect residents and clients programming performance and feedback data.
- Drafts activity reports for grant funders, LaGuardia management and marketing purposes.
- Coordinate programming on-boarding and off-boarding of clients and during the duration of residency / service.
- Participate in the creation of programming and events to serve the wider NYDesigns community.
Space and Event Management:
- Coordinate space use for NYDesigns residents and partners, as well as some of LaGuardia’s other programs and departments.
- Coordinate logistics for on-site and off-site events to ensure smooth functioning of activities, including coordinating schedules, identifying vendors, and placing orders for supplies and services.
- Coordinate and disseminate all internal and external event materials (e.g., invitations, space signage, sign-in materials) with guidance from the team.
- Coordinate registration process and act as contact person for attendees.
- Keep a complete inventory of equipment and furniture.
- Coordinate facilities maintenance tasks, interfacing with building and grounds as needed, with Operations Associate.

The NSF Engineering Research Center for Cell Manufacturing Technologies (CMaT) announces its Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program for summer 2019. The REU program will fund undergraduate students to work in CMaT labs at Georgia Institute of Technology (GT), University of Georgia (UGA), University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez (UPRM), and University of Wisconsin-Madison (UW).
The research program offers 10 weeks of hands-on research at GT, UGA, UPRM, or UW with a $4500 - $5000 stipend given per student. Free housing and allowances for meals and travel are provided, Grad school prep, faculty mentoring, professional development and social engagement with other students on campus as well as networking with partner REUs. There are multiple presentation opportunities include the CMaT annual retreat.
Program Requirements:
Must be 18 years or older and a U.S citizen or permanent resident.
Must be currently enrolled in a science or engineering undergraduate program (biology, chemistry, physics, materials science, bio-engineering, computer science, and related fields).
Students from underrepresented minority groups, women, and individuals with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply.

Asahi Kasei Pharma is seeking potential partners for innovation. They are looking to collaborate or fund any research proposal they deem original and potentially useful for the company's drug development efforts.
Subject research areas include:
- Chronic Pain
- Autoimmune disease
- Critical Care Medicine
- Bones and Cartilage
- Drug Development Core Technology
- Identification of novel drug indications
Research collaborators can receive up to $50,000 a year for their project, and up to $20,000 in research funding.
Program Requirements:
For research collaborators, they must submit a proposal based on the research topics requested by Asahi Kasei Pharma and will be evaluated for originality, usefulness, viability and possible conflict with Asahi Kasei Pharma internal projects.
If the proposal does not meet the criteria listed above, but is original and useful to the company's drug development efforts in the future, they may receive financial assistance to support the project.
