 Soyon Kim, Ph.D. Candidate


Soyon Kim specializes in the socioeconomics of Korea and other East Asian countries. Her teaching covers various topics related to Gender and Work of Korean and American Societies as well as advanced level of Korean Language. She has taught various courses in Sociology and Women’s Studies at Stony Brook University since 2004 and all levels of Korean language at heritage language schools on Long Island. She received a B.A. in Social Studies Education at the Teachers College of Inha University, an M.A. in Political Science at the Ewha Woman’s University, Korea and an M.A. in Sociology at Stony Brook University. Her Ph. D. dissertation in progress is “Corporate Power and Cross-National Differences in Income Inequality in the Globalization,” a study that analyzes a causal process of globalizing private sector and government moderation in Korea and other OECD countries.
