Sara LejuezSara V. Lejuez teaches in the undergraduate journalism program and supports the School’s broadcast and production programming.

Before coming to Stony Brook, Sara spent several years at Voice of America where she worked her way up to becoming an executive producer. In that role, she was responsible for managing a team of more than 200 people, setting the editorial vision and visual style of news and entertainment programs, and overseeing the production of high quality programming. She launched two radio stations in Africa: the Central African Republic and Chad. Also at VOA, she ensured important news was covered and aired with close attention to detail and journalistic ethics. Her knowledge and experience is a strong benefit to SoCJ students, many of whom hope to follow in her footsteps and work in broadcast journalism upon graduation.

Lejuez has also worked on a pilot for a television station in the UK, and for the International Broadcasting Bureau’s Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, among other organizations.

Originally from Iran, she speaks four languages and occasionally was responsible for helping to translate news stories for distribution across Voice of America’s international network of stations and channels.
