Classes for the Community

Childrens ClassWould you like to speak Italian and learn about Italian culture? Do you have some knowledge of Italian but you would like to learn more? Would you like to retain your language skills by practicing with other students?

If you answered 'yes' to any of the questions above, we have an Italian class for you! The Center for Italian Studies is proud to sponsor our Italian Classes for the Community. These courses are designed to expose students to Italian language and culture according to prior knowledge and individual needs.


Beginning Italian:  Students with little or no knowledge of Italian.

Intermediate Italian: Students with the equivalent of 1-2 years of Italian non-credit course or 2-3 semesters of college credit courses.

Advanced Italian: Students with at least 3-4 semesters of non-credit Italian courses or 2-3 year college Italian. 

The Center for Italian Studies is pleased to be offering the following Italian classes for the community 2018 - 2019.

40 hours of instruction (20 two-hour sessions) beginning October through April 1, 2018
Annual fee: $260.00. 

Classes are available as follows:

Stony Brook University:
Saturdays, 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon
Beginner Italian - Instructor, Joseph Tursi
Intermediate Italian - Instructor, Annamaria D'Agostino
Advanced Italian - Instructor, Donna Di Natale

Kings Park High School:
Tuesdays, 7:30 - 9:30 p.m.
Beginner Italian - Instructor, Christen Visceglie

Wednesdays, 7:30 - 9:30 p.m.
Intermediate Italian - Instructor, Annamaria D'Agostino

FOR CHILDREN: Classes in Italian Language

Winter/Spring 2019 Session

Each class is organized around fun theme-based units that combine singing, movement, interactive exercises, arts & crafts and more. Expert native-speaking teacher, born and educated in Italy offers a curriculum developed and   defined using “European Theories and Methods about Children Learning a Second Language (CEFRL).

January through April

Intermediate (For Former Continuing Students or New Students who have some familiarity with Italian Language )

12 Class Meetings on   Tuesdays

DatesSeptember 25;  October 2, 9 16, 23 30;   November 13, 20, 27;    December 4,11,18.

Class Hours:
 For Ages 3-6: 4:00-4:45 pm
          For Ages 7-11: 4:45-5:45 pm

Beginners Level

12 Class Meetings on Fridays 

Dates:  September 21; 28;   October 5, 12, 19, 26;   November 2, 9, 16, 30;   December 14, 21.

Class Hours: For Ages 6 -11: 4:00-5:00 pm


Cost per 12 Class Session: $120 
+ Materials Fee: $10
