winter in rome

Stony Brook University offers students the opportunity to study for three weeks in Rome, the Eternal City, known for its classical architecture such as the Colosseum and the Forum. This study abroad program, established over 35 years ago, enables participants to gain first-hand knowledge of contemporary Italy while fulfilling Diversified Education Curriculum (DEC), Stony Brook Curriculum (SBC), upper-division, or major/minor requirements.

Participants will register for a total of 4 credits. All participants following the Stony Brook Curriculum (SBC) will fulfill GLO and EXP+ in addition to requirements fulfilled by their coursework.

The curriculum offers students an understanding of Italian history, politics, and culture. In conjunction with classes, visits will be made to the city's artistic and historical landmarks such as St. Peter's Basilica and Piazza di Spagna, as well as an excursion to the Renaissance City of Florence.

Language proficiency is NOT required.
