The following competitions are subject to a campus-based process managed by the IREP Office. Fulbright U.S. Student Program

Types of grants include Fulbright Study/Research, Fulbright English Teaching Assistant (ETA), Fulbright National Geographic, and Fulbright-Clinton.

 

Fulbright Study/Research Grants

Perform an academic or art-based project in one of over 140 host countries.

Campus Deadline to participate in required interview process: September 23, 2016

National Deadline: October 11, 2016

Eligibility:

      • U.S. Citizen
      • All fields
      • Undergraduate degree by start of grant, no PhD yet
      • Relevant language proficiency for host country (if applicable)
      • Country specific requirements
      • Preferred: no more than six months prior residence in host country

 

Fulbright English Teaching Assistant Grants

Assist teaching English at schools in one of over 70 host countries.

Campus Deadline to participate in required interview process: September 23, 2016

National Deadline: October 11, 2016

Eligibility:

      • U.S. Citizen
      • All fields
      • Undergraduate degree by start of grant, no PhD yet
      • Relevant language proficiency for host country
      • Country specific requirements
      • Preferred: no more than six months prior residence in host country

 

Fulbright-National Geographic Fellowship

Spend an academic year of overseas travel and digital storytelling in up to three countries on a globally significant theme (themes change each year).

Campus Deadline to participate in required interview process: September 23, 2016

National Deadline: October 11, 2016

Eligibility:

      • U.S. Citizen
      • All fields
      • Undergraduate degree by start of grant, but no PhD
      • Preferred: Demonstrated experience/talent in digital storytelling

 

Fulbright-Clinton Fellowship

Take a professional placement in foreign government ministry or institution in partner governments for a list of 12 countries.

Campus Deadline to participate in required interview process: September 23, 2016

National Deadline: October 11, 2016

Eligibility:

      • U.S. Citizen by deadline
      • At least two years full-time, professional work experience in policy-related fields.
      • Master’s level degree (MA, JD, MBA, MPA, MPH, MSW, MSc, or other) with an area of focus that is applicable to public policy prior to September 1, 2015, OR be currently enrolled in a doctoral program prior to the grant period which will commence in September 2015.
      • No PhD, some MDs (see Web site)

 

Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research Abroad Fellowship Program

Perform doctoral dissertation work abroad for advanced graduate students in language or area studies. 

National Deadline: May 6, 2016

Campus Deadline: May 2, 2016 (No campus interview, but application must be submitted through the IREP Office)

Eligibility:

  • U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Research in language or area studies (see Competition Highlights below for competitive preferences)
  • Graduate student is advanced to candidacy by application deadline
  • Plans U.S. teaching career after graduation
  • "Adequate" language skills for project

 DAAD Study Scholarships

Pursue a year of independent study or complete master's degree at a German university.

Campus Deadline to participate in required interview process: September 23, 2016

Eligibility:

  • U.S. or Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident; some foreign nationals (see Web site)
  • All fields
  • Senior undergraduate or full-time graduate student
  • Humanities/Social Sciences: Good command of German

 

Boren Scholarships and Fellowships

Study overseas for an academic year, shorter periods of study will be considered for STEM students while learning a less commonly taught language outside the U.S., Western Europe, Canada, Australia, or New Zealand. Successful candidates will be able to relate their career goals, as well as country and language choice to U.S. national security broadly defined. Applicants must demonstrate interest in government service, also broadly defined.

National Deadline: Scholarships (Undergraduate students): February 9, 2016; Fellowships (Graduate Students): January 28, 2016

Campus Deadline: January 4, 2016 (Interview required for scholarships; recommended for fellowships)

Schwarzman Scholars Program

Postdoc and Early Career: Fulbright Scholar Program
