The NCI Predoctoral to Postdoctoral Fellow Transition Award (F99/K00)

The NIH’s National Cancer Institute offers a fellowship opportunity for 3rd and 4th year PhD students engaged in cancer research: The NCI Predoctoral to Postdoctoral Fellow Transition Award (F99/K00)(RFA-CA-16-005). This F99/K00 transition award provides up to 6 years of funding: 1-2 years dissertation support plus up to 4 years of mentored postdoctoral training. The award also has no citizenship requirement. Stony Brook may nominate only one student. 

  • On-campus nomination materials due: December 19, 2017
  • NIH Letter of Intent: January 22, 2018
  • NIH Final Proposal: February 21, 2018
Who May Apply:
  • 3rd and 4th year PhD students working in a relevant research field
  • F31 fellowship applicants and awardees are eligible
  • Students of any citizenship are eligible

How to Apply:

Stony Brook may only nominate one student. Any students who want to be considered for our nomination must submit the following materials  to External Scholarships and Fellowships Advisor Jen Green by the December 19, 2017 on-campus deadline

  • A current CV/biosketch
  • Specific Aims following the RFP guidelines (Please note that these guidelines have changed since last year)
  • One recommendation letter from an advisor that describes the applicant's promise as a cancer researcher and his/her ability to transition to postdoctoral research
