MediaRank

Traditional media is experiencing a dramatic challenge because of the emergence of Internet and social media. Since the events of 2016 election, we seem to be in a time where no authority is broadly considered trustworthy, and unsupported claims from shoddy sources are accepted on an equal footing as extensively researched journalism.

MediaRank is designed to keep track of online news sources’ qualities. On one hand, we analyze the content generated by these sources and use multiple objective metrics to make qualitative differentiation among them. On the other hand, we are interested to see how news are consumed and comprehended by individuals and groups on social media.
