IACS Affiliate, Dr. Liliana M. Dávalos, Recognized as Featured Expert
IACS Affiliate Faculty and Associate Professor of Ecology and Evolution, Dr. Liliana M. Dávalos, recognized as a featured expert by Stony Brook University in July! Dr. Dávalos' current research includes several projects involving bats. Her work analyzes groups that have evolved many specialized senses, studies the role of anti-microbial peptides on bat wings in resistance to the fungus that causes white-nose syndrome, and investigates the co-evolution between fruit scents and the olfactory ability and behavioral preferences of fruit-eating bats. Her research also includes studying the impact of the illegal drugs on rain forests in the Andean region. She and her work have recently been acknowledged by Stony Brook News regarding her work with molecular evolution of Hummingbirds.
