As one of the leading organizations of the Black Power movement the Black Panther Party articulated a radical anti-imperialist and anti-capitalist critique. This talk considers the Panthers organizational evolution, political strategies and the role of Black women as leaders and strategists


Robyn Spencer


Robyn C. Spencer is a historian that focuses on Black social protest after World War II, radicalism, and gender. She teaches at Lehman College, CUNY and the Graduate Center. Her first book The Revolution Has Come:  Black Power, Gender, and the Black Panther Party in Oakland was published in 2016.
